Traveling throughout the state of Florida I have found some of the most amazing foods. From the Cuban sandwiches in Tampa, the ostrich in Jacksonville, oysters of the panhandle, the Louie's burger in Gainesville... I really could keep going but I think I have made my point.
Just a few years ago a magazine surfaced in the state named Florida Table, they have the focus to show the food of the state and also to feature foodies doing what they do best, eat and enjoy. However, the people that run this publication are so closed minded to the belief that all foodies and good food exist only in Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties.
If you pick up this magazine you will see the beautiful photos and good articles, but as I said they focus only on foods and kitchens in a 2 hour radius. Yes, I will admit that there is great food in the south Florida area but to call yourself the Florida Table Magazine you should have the courage to eat in more than just 3 or 4 counties.
The foods in the rest of the state are great, as a matter of fact the cities of Orlando and Tampa are quickly becoming culinary destinations for statewide foodies. And some of the top chefs in the United States are finding their homes in the resort areas in Marco Island, Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, and Destin/Ft Walton.
My recommendation is to grab a copy of Florida Table Magazine because it is a fairly good publication. My other recommendation is to Florida Table Magazine to either change your name to South Florida Table or to acknowledge the rest of the state and foodies north of Palm Beach county.
Enjoy Yall.
